Privacy Policy

The short version: TendLife stores your financial data securely in Firebase (Google Cloud). We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers. Your income and spending information is yours — we just help you make sense of it.
1. Who we are
TendLife is a personal finance app built for tipped and gig economy workers — servers, bartenders, delivery drivers, and anyone with variable income. The app is operated by TendLife and can be reached at support@tendlife.ai.
2. What information we collect
We collect only what's necessary to run the app and give you useful financial insights.
Information you provide directly:
- Email address and display name (for your account)
- Income entries — amounts, dates, type (tips, hourly, etc.), hours worked
- Bill information — name, amount, due date
- Expense entries — amount, merchant, category
- Savings goals — name, target amount, progress
- Budget settings — monthly income goal
- Financial profile from our behavioral assessment (optional)
- Mileage trips (if you use the mileage tracker)
Information collected automatically:
- App usage events (e.g., features used, screens visited) — used only to improve the app, never sold
- Device type and iOS version — for debugging and compatibility
- Crash reports — to fix bugs
Information from connected bank accounts (optional, Premium only):
- Account balances and transaction history — provided by Quiltt (see Bank account data section)
3. How we use your information
We use your information exclusively to operate and improve TendLife:
- To calculate your daily budget, bill coverage, and income projections
- To generate personalized financial insights and coaching tips
- To send bill reminders and budget alerts (if you opt in)
- To power the AI Money Coach (your financial data is sent to Anthropic Claude — see AI Money Coach section)
- To sync your data across your devices
- To fix bugs and improve app performance
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to data brokers, or share it with any third party for their own marketing purposes.
4. How we store and protect your data
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the United States. Firebase is a Google Cloud product that meets enterprise-grade security standards including SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and GDPR compliance.
Access controls ensure that each user can only read and write their own data — no other user or third party can access your records. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted from our database within 30 days.
5. Third-party services
TendLife uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, cloud functions. Firebase Privacy
- Quiltt — optional bank account connection (Premium only). Quiltt Privacy
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI Money Coach. Your financial context is sent to Claude to generate responses. Anthropic does not use your data to train their models. Anthropic Privacy
- Apple StoreKit — in-app subscription management. Apple handles all payment processing; we never see your credit card information.
6. Bank account data
The bank sync feature (Premium only) is powered by Quiltt, a financial data aggregation service. When you connect a bank account:
- You authenticate directly with your bank through Quiltt's secure OAuth flow — TendLife never sees your bank username or password
- Quiltt provides us with read-only access to your account balances and transaction history
- This data is used to analyze your spending, detect recurring bills, and identify potential tax deductions
- You can disconnect your bank account at any time from the Transactions tab in the app

7. AI Money Coach
The AI Money Coach feature is powered by Anthropic's Claude, accessed through a secure Firebase Cloud Function (not directly from your device). When you send a message to the coach:
- Your message and relevant financial context (income totals, bill amounts, budget summary) are sent to Claude to generate a personalized response
- We do not send your full transaction history or individual merchant names to Claude
- Anthropic's API terms prohibit using your conversations to train their AI models
- Conversation history is stored in your app session and not permanently saved to our database
Free accounts are limited to 5 AI messages per day. Premium accounts are limited to 100 per day.
8. Your rights and choices
You have full control over your data:
- Access: All your data is visible in the app at any time
- Correction: Edit any income, bill, or expense entry directly in the app
- Deletion: Delete your account from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This permanently deletes all your data from our systems
- Export: Contact us at support@tendlife.ai to request a copy of your data
- Bank disconnection: Disconnect your bank account at any time from the Transactions tab
- Notifications: Toggle bill reminders and budget alerts off in Settings
If you are in the European Union or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. Contact us at support@tendlife.ai to exercise these rights.
9. Children's privacy
TendLife is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at support@tendlife.ai.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you in the app. Continued use of TendLife after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
